Shawkat Hashimi presents the Bengali programme on the BBC Asian Network on Tuesday evenings 8pm-10pm.
Born in Bangladesh, Shawkat studied journalism and media courses in the UK and has been involved with the BBC for the past 22 years. In addition to presenting the Bengali programme on the station, he also produces and presents shows on BBC West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and Lancashire.
Shawkat began his career in broadcasting through hospital radio whilst being treated for a knee injury. Apart from his broadcasting interests, he also enjoys playing Badminton and Cricket.
