Mumzy Stranger with live band Urban Juntas
Mumzy Stranger is truly a rising star and conquering the current music scene with his own eclectic style. Raised in East London, Mumzy's music blends the R&B & Hip Hop beats of his childhood with the New Jack Swing riffs and reggae-inspired rhythms of his teenage years. His 2010 album 'Journey Begins' reached Number 4 on the official iTunes Hip Hop album chart and halped him to win the Best Urban Act Award at the UK AMAS and the Best British Asian Urban Act at the 2010 BritAsia awards. Don't miss this unique opportunity to catch him perform.

We are also proud to be presenting some emerging local talent newly discovered via our community engagement audition programme whereby we give aspiring performers the chance to sing, dance or play in front of tens of thousands of people. We have trawled through a number of impressive audition CDs and DVDs, including everything from dance, singing and rap to drama and poetry, but all linked to Bangladeshi heritage or music. We think you will enjoy the result!

Mela Market
The Mela market continues on Allen Gardens with opportunities for foodies and shopaholics alike to buy a range of delicious snacks, meals and drinks, as well as traditional clothes and accessories, jewellery, handicrafts, toys and more!

PROCESSION PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY!
This year's vibrant procession will be created by locally based company Medialink who will be working with local schools, community groups and artists in the lead up to the event.

Glorious and glittering floats will feature aspects of Bangladeshi life, from the poignant reminder of the struggle for change through the miniature Shaheed Minar monument, to a celebration of the joyous occasion that is a traditional Bengali wedding. Accompanying the floats will be dancers, musicians and local schools and community groups.

If you are a school or group that would like to be involved please email info@baishakhimela.org.uk
